Accidental Brewery and Micropub

George and Dragon

Lancaster’s got that perfect mix of historic pubs and slightly offbeat spots… the kind of place where you can go traditional, then accidentally end up somewhere a bit quirky an hour later 🐾🍺

🍺 Proper pubs & character stops
Merchants 1688 → One of the standouts. Historic, atmospheric, and the sort of place you remember.
The Golden Lion → Cosy corners, classic feel, and easy to settle into.
The Three Mariners → Traditional pub with proper food… a strong all-rounder.
Toll House Inn → Warm, welcoming, and ideal after a long wander.
Wagon & Horses → Slightly out of the centre but worth it for a more relaxed stop.

🍻 Beer spots & casual drinks
Accidental Brewery & Micropub → Small, focused, and all about the beer.
The Stonewell Tap → Great selection and a proper craft feel.
The White Cross → Riverside setting, perfect for stretching a quick drink into a longer one.
The Jailor’s Barrel → Central and easy for a casual pint stop.

🍸 Something a bit different
Crafty Scholar → Lively, colourful, and a bit more energy.
Water Witch → Quirky, canalside, and a Lancaster classic with personality.
The Wobbly Cobbler Ltd. → A bit left-field, but that’s part of the charm.
